2.2 Conversion Charts

For many situations, only small volumes of pesticide are needed to control pests or regulate crop growth. Mixing a realistically estimated amount of the required material minimizes the need to dispose of excesses. The following conversions can be made for mixing small volumes.

2.2.1 Dry Products

Dry products are measured by weight, and the following conversions can be used:

Because the density (weight of a unit volume) of dry products differs with each product, there is no relationship between weight (avoirdupois) ounces and volume (fluid) ounces. Each product must be weighed and the volume for that weight recorded for future reference if volumetric measuring is desired.

The following conversions have been established for mixing small volumes of some pesticides and growth regulators. Accurately measure using level spoonfuls. Products listed might not be registered for use in New York state, consult label and state resources prior to use.

For the growth retardant *B-Nine 85WP, the 0.4 oz./gal. rate is approximately equivalent to 1 level teaspoonful per 20 fluid ounces, or 2 1/2 cups.

2.2.2 Liquid Products
